TBFE Update And Custom Offer

I wanted to share a general update on where things stand for anyone who might be curious, and to answer a few questions some of you have asked. First, we’ve got six projects in the pipeline. If you’re a current customer and have slipped through the cracks with contact, please don’t hesitate to reach out and give me a quick bump for an update.

A few folks have expressed concern about the frequency of updates, and some have asked if we’re going out of business. So no, we’re not going out of business, and the project will continue, but with admittedly fewer updates. There was a time years ago when the project made pretty decent money in back sales; enough to support a studio and allow me to primarily focus on TBFE as my only source of income. These days, that’s not the case, as films have continued to decline in sales for a whole host of different reasons (for years now), which can be a conversation for another time. Production has basically become a supplemental project for me, with my primary focus on my job. This just means I won’t have the time I once had, so updates will be fewer, and timelines may be extended. So no, we’re not shutting down, but production has slowed, and updates will be fewer and further between.

It’s also been an unreasonably busy year with family obligations and all sorts of unexpected life curveballs, particularly in the last year. This has pulled my focus away from the project even further. That said, things are settling down in the coming months, and I will have much more time to devote to production in fall and winter. With the coming letup, I’d love to book a few more projects, so for the first two weeks of October, I’m offering at-cost customs. For those who have received a quote from TBFE, this might make more sense, but in short, I will only charge for production costs, and not post-production, editing, or anything I contribute to the work. This could cut the quote significantly, especially since these projects can be fairly expensive to produce. I’ll even take it a step further. If it’s a straightforward script with a recognizable character, or just feels like a decent selling film, I’ll entertain putting up financing alongside the customer’s contribution to get the project produced. So please take advantage if you’ve been thinking about a film, and submit over the next two weeks!

A number of folks have asked whether TBFE will be producing AI content. In short, the answer isn’t a hard no, but it’s not something that interests me terribly. The cost and time investment are significant, and I’ve been watching what some of the other producers are putting out, and it’s great stuff. I just don’t see it being the future for TBFE. I enjoy the process of creating a film, so we’ll produce live action until there’s no more interest, or at least that’s my thinking at this point.

Anyway, if anyone has any other questions that I’ve missed, I’ll monitor the thread, but I think that covers things for now!
