Creator Spotlight – The Reign of Dolorfer

Hello hench folk,

Todays ‘Creator Spotlight’ is of a video game made by ‘TheMalevolentMoly’

All information provided below was written by ‘TheMalevolentMoly’. For the sake of transparency – I Damien Woods, do not know who ‘TheMalevolentMoly’ is, nor have I tested the game (I don’t use Windows and it does not function on Mac). So proceed with caution as installing programs to run on your computer always comes with some risk. I am unable to verify whether or not the program is safe so this game is in no way endorsed by me.

That being said… I will turn it over to ‘TheMalevolentMoly’

The Reign of Dolorfer – Origins

(A Windows Game in Development)

I am making a game for windows that revolves around SHiP, it’s free and the first chapter/level is out

Long Post

Hello! I wanted to share a project I am working on. I am developing a short and simple Superheroine
in Peril focused game called The Reign of Dolorfer; Origins. I am doing this as a passion project, it’s
very obviously not a professionally-made game. That said, I am trying to do a good job and use as
high quality assets as I can. I am having custom art made for the characters/animations and
working through the producers we love around here to get voice acting done for the heroines in the
game. I worked with DCF this time, Rainey Dae did the VA work for the first heroine you meet.
I enjoy gaming and I enjoy the SHiP content this community is built around, so I felt it would be fun
to make something that bridges these two hobbies. I have funded several customs in the past
(Destroyed by TBFE, Dolorfer Arrival/Origins and SIFT from Lucia, and Fury of the Heart from DCF),
so my desire to be involved in the creative process of this content has been strong for a long time.
This game is just another step in that.

What is this Game About?

If you have seen any of the customs I mentioned above, you have a good idea of what to expect
from this game’s themes. In fact, the overall flow will follow the films we enjoy here. There are story
beats, combat, and sexual content near the end. My stu always focuses mostly on combat
anyway (again, look at the customs I mentioned), but that translates well into gaming. The main
content will be combat, but there will be a narrative that pushes you forward and some sexual
content as well. I will be using many of the tropes we see in the SHIP films because I love them.
You play as a lifetime criminal with a grudge against superheroines in general, but a certain one in
particular really grinds your gears. Supremia. The goal is take revenge on her for the humiliation she
caused you. You make a deal with an ancient demon to gain powers. The story is about you
defeating heroines, which allows you to increase your own powers, and ultimately bring down
Supremia whom you hate so much.

What does the Game Look Like?

My goal is to create a classic comic book and classic gaming feel. I am working with a wonderful
freelance artist who is making custom art for the game, and he’s doing great job. I am not aiming for
fluid or realistic, both because I like the look of classic/retro content and because that would be out
of my reach currently.
You can see a few screenshots below to get an idea of what to expect.

Development Process

This is only the first chapter/level of the game I am presenting now. The assets for the 2nd are being
made, but it takes time and money for that. There will be gaps in between chapters and I save the
money for the assets and then they are made. There are five chapters planned in total, so there will
be four major updates to the game before it’s finished.
For the immediate future of the game, I expect chapter 2 to be out sometime in August or
September. You can see the concept art for this heroine below!

How much does the Game Cost to Play?

It’s free. As I said above, this is a passion project. I am not really planning on making money from it. I
just enjoy the creative process and learning new things. I hope that you all will give it a try and are
able to enjoy the experience. The methods I provide below all allow for the game to be downloaded
for free. There are no special requirements other than needing a windows PC to play. It does not
have high resource requirements at all.
All this said, the links I provide do also allow for donations to be made. If you give it a try and decide
you want to help me pay for the assets you can do that. I do not plan to make money from this, so
anything donated will go straight into the game. Donations will always be optional though, and all
updates will always be free for everyone.

How to Play the Game?

You can download the game from three places. All are the same version, it’s just your preference as
to where you get it from. The download will be a .zip file. Simply unzip the file to the desired location
and run the .exe file.

Mediafire Link:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/0vnpr2yuhs73ntk/Dolorfer_Origins_0_1_0.zip/file
Mediafire is the easiest of the links to use. You just click the link and download. I understand this
might seem a bit risky, which is why I have provided the next link as well.

Itch.IO Link:

https://themalevolentmoly.itch.io/the-reign-of-dolorfer-origins
Itch.IO is a platform for small time game devs. It allows for safer transfer of games than the
mediafire link above. They do some testing to make sure the files being shared are safe. This can
give you some ease at downloading the files if you are nervous about it. Go to the link, click the
download now button, and then click “No thanks, just take me to the downloads” to skip past the
donation. Should you decide to donate later, this link allows for one-time donations.

Patreon Link:

https://www.patreon.com/TheMalevolentMoly
Patreon allows for free download as well, but you will possibly have to have an account with them.
The only real reason to use this one is if you want to make small monthly contributions to the game.
I would suggest using one of the two above using one of the two above to try to the game, but this is
here if you prefer this platform. They also have some checks in place in place for your safety, but
less than Itch.IO.

This was WAY better than I thought it would be. I cannot wait for the full game to come out. Wish there were more projects like this in the SHIP space. Adult SHIP games are needed!

I played through the first part of Dolorfor and I dig it! It’s a lot of fun. So far I like the heroine design and I like that you have some choices to interact with her. Hopefully you’ll add more choices to taunt/torture them when they’re in the dungeon.

Looking forward to the next installments.

I am using the Godot engine.

I am hoping to release it on Mac when I drop the next release, which will be late August I hope. In theory it should not be too difficult to do.

Thank you for your time in sharing, Damien.

All, I hope those of you that give it a shot enjoy it. Currently it is a very short expience, probably about 15 minutes long. A short time investment to try!

The game is also playable on mobile now, at least on Droid. You can find both versions at the links above.
